Before Installing a New Theme
Backup Your Previous Theme
Before making any changes, back up your current template and any important widgets.
If you have custom HTML/JavaScript widgets, copy the code into a text editor (e.g., Notepad for Windows or TextEdit for MacOS) for safekeeping.
To back up your theme:
- Go to your Blogger dashboard → Theme
- Click the arrow next to “Customize” → select Backup
- A pop-up will appear — click “Download” and save the .xml file to your computer.
IMPORTANT
If you've added any custom scripts or codes, back them up manually by editing each gadget, copying the code, and saving it elsewhere.
Restore Your Previous Theme (if needed)
If something goes wrong, you can restore your previous theme:
- Go to Theme → Click the arrow next to “Customize” → select Restore
- Upload the .xml file you backed up earlier
- Your old theme and widgets will be restored.
Installing a New Theme
- Locate the template file — it should have a .xml extension.
- Go to your Blogger dashboard → Theme
- Click the arrow next to “Customize” → select Restore → click Upload and choose the .xml file.
IMPORTANT
After uploading, your blog may look messy at first — this is normal.
Open your blog in a new tab to check which widgets need adjusting or replacing. Don’t forget to upload your own header image.
To clean things up:
Go to Layout and remove any old widgets, especially if they interfere with the new layout. This template is designed to use minimal widgets.
Disable Blogger Mobile Template
This theme is mobile responsive by default. To disable the default Blogger mobile view:
- Go to Theme
- Click the arrow next to “Customize” → select Mobile Settings
- Choose “Desktop” view → click Save
