Navigation Menu

To build a navigation menu, you can link to both static pages (like “About” or “Contact”) and label pages (to group posts by category).

Creating a Static Page (e.g., About, Contact)

  1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard
  2. Click Pages from the left-hand menu
  3. Click the New Page button
  4. Add your page title (e.g., "About Me") and fill in the content
  5. Click Publish

Once published, each static page will have its own URL. You’ll use this URL when adding it to your navigation menu.

Creating a Label Page (Category Page)

Label pages automatically display all posts with a specific label.

To create one:

  1. Go to Posts → Edit or create a new post
  2. In the Labels section (on the right sidebar), add your category name (e.g., "Recipes", "Travel")
  3. Publish or update the post

After adding labels to your posts, each label will have its own URL:

https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/search/label/LABEL-NAME

Example:

https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/search/label/Recipes

Tip: Replace yourblogname and LABEL-NAME with your actual blog address and label.

Note: Label names in the URL are case sensitive. For example, Recipes and recipes will show different results. Make sure the label in the URL exactly matches the one used in your post (including capitalization).

Arranging The Menu Items

  1. Go to Layout
  2. Find the Pages widget in the header/menu area (depending on your template)
  3. Click the pencil icon to edit
  4. Click Add a New Item
  5. For static pages: Type the name of the page you created earlier. It should appear in the dropdown — simply select it.
  6. To add a label page or an external link: Fill in the Page Name (e.g., “Recipes”), Paste the full URL into the Page URL field
  7. You can also use this method to add other external links (e.g. shop, other website, etc.).
  8. For creating a dropdown menu, continue to the next section.

Add Submenus / Dropdown Menu

To create nested (multi-level) menu items:
  • Level 2 submenu: Add one underscore (_) before the Page Name
    Example: _Baking
  • Level 3 submenu: Add two underscores (__) before the Page Name
    Example: __Cakes

After adding:
  1. Click Save
  2. Reorder the menu items so the submenu appears under its parent item

See the image below for reference.
If you want a static page to appear as a dropdown menu item, just add an underscore (_) before its Page Name and add its link in the Page URL field.

Example case #1 :
Add a menu item as dropdown menu.

Example case #2 :
Add 2 pages as LEVEL-2 Menu as blog categories under your “Category” menu, the hierarchy will be like this :

Parnet Category
_Your category name 1
_Your category name 2
